Safe Arrival in Hong Kong - Merry Budgemas

Thursday 9 January 2014

I have arrived safe and well in Hong Kong, and it all feels a bit surreal. Got a bit mixed up with timings, and the plane was also slightly early so I chilled in the airport until my friends were awake and skyped home using the free wifi. As it was a bit of a bumpy journey, I didn't sleep much. Plus being on the aisle seat required getting up what felt like every five minutes to let people out.

Yan, dressed very dapper, picked me up from central Hong Kong, which is only 24 minutes away from the airport and costs about £8. The train ride in was fascinating, lots of high rises set on an island backdrop. Will get some photos of that soon. Was so good to see a friendly face who could show me the way, I felt a bit overwhelmed and tired. We walked through a walkway tunnel and decided to go for a quick coffee in the Starbucks beneath his office. Pete, who I am staying with the first half of the week, was difficult to get a hold of, but eventually we got through. I walked over to Pete's office, through another tunnel, said our hellos and got his keys to his flat.

After a wee kip, I am now waiting for another of Pete's friends to arrive and I think we are all going for Peking Duck later.

I don't have any photos of HK at the moment, but I do have some photos from the Christmas period, I know my mum will be wanting to have a look at those! So here you are, Budgemas! (penned by Whatleydude and Eb)
