Australia - Gold Coast - Sun, Sand and Surf at Snapper Rocks

Thursday 26 June 2014

An early start for myself and Heather, as we accompanied her husband Ian to the Gold Coast. He crew up there, and used to surf everyday. He still likes to get out whenever he can.

We went to Coolangatta and more importantly, Snapper Rocks. This was where the Quicksilver Pro was being held and surfing legends like Kelly Slater and Mike Fanning were in attendance. And yes, I did see them and it made my day! :)

The coast is absolutely stunning, with gorgeous turquoise seas and a real surfing, cruisey vibe. While Ian surfed, myself and Heather went on a walk along the beaches and even stopped to watch the surfing.

My breakfast consisted of seasonal fruits and yoghurt. It was delicious. What was more fun was watching the surfing competition from the cafe, watching an interview with one of the surfers, and then two minutes later, the same surfer sitting next to us ordering his breakfast.

Surfers Paradise can be seen in the distance.

After Ian was done with his surfing for the day, we went to an outlet store, where I bought some last minute things for my trip.

I had a lovely couple of days with Heather and her family, and was sad to leave. Even managed to catch up with my other Aussie mummy Jo, who lives round the corner from Heather.

It is only an hour flight to Brisbane and the Gold Coast and I will definitely be taking advantage of it in the future!
