About

I live by this overused travel quote from Saint Augustine: 'The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.' I first heard this back in 2008, on a tour in the Vatican City when I was inter-railing with friends. Our tour guide said it, and I think we were all mesmerised by him that it stuck with all of us. I intend to attempt to read the whole book, wish me luck!

Living and working in London for over three and a half years had begun to take toll, however in August 2013 I was given the kick up the bum I needed to change my life for the better. I decided to make a big life decision and move half way across the world to Australia. I haven't looked back since.

I left for Oz at the start of the New Year of 2014, stopping off in South East Asia along the way. As a means to keep my family and friends updated on my adventures I set up this blog.

Originally from Scotland, I love to travel and take photos, on my iPhone and my digital camera. I was luckily given a Nikon D3200 by my encouraging father. I am still trying to work out how to use it properly!

My second name is Budge, and I am affectionately know by many as Budgie. Hence why this blog is called Travelling Budgie. I now have an obsession with collecting budgie memorabilia... It has to stop!

Here is a map of where I have already been in the world, I still have a long way to go to complete that book.
